Ghana Muslim Mission holds first health walk
The Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM), at the weekend organised its first health walk to enlighten members about the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to keep fit at all times.
The walk also aimed at bringing members together and markets the mission and the religion for other Muslim organisations to emulate.
Dr Sheikh Amin Bonsu, Acting National Chairman of the GMM said health walk is very important since it helps to strengthen the body physically and mentally.
He said: “it is also incumbent on every Muslim as stated by the Holy Prophet Mohammed to keep fit at all times and maintain a healthy diet”.
Dr Bonsu said in order for one to maintain a healthy life it s important to keep a healthy diet made up of fresh vegetable, fruits, and cereals, and reduce the intake of fatty foods.
He commended the members for their active participation and advised that the activity would be sustained to facilitate the health of Muslims for the development of the Islamic Community.
Dr Bonsu asked other Muslim organisations to emulate the efforts of the mission.
The GMM was established in 1957 to bring Muslims across the country together to foster the development of Islam.
It has branches in six regions across the country with the exception of Volta, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
