The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED-Ghana), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has announced a scholarship package for needy but brilliant students.
Mr Charles Atia, Head of Operations of CAMFED-Ghana, therefore advised female students not to give up their academic pursue.
He said the NGO, which is focusing on giving quality education and careers to young women has been supporting many female students with full scholarship packages to ensure that they come out of poverty.
“Many more young women will be given scholarships this year and beyond….they only need to study hard,” he said.
Mr Atia made this known at the weekend, during the first anniversary celebration of a financial literacy programme on radio.
Two local radio stations were used to discuss various financial topics to enlighten the public particularly women to improve on their businesses with funding from the MasterCard Foundation of the UK.
The 30-minute live financial literacy broadcast, discussed issues such as savings, borrowing, cost of borrowing, business set ups, sexual reproductive issues and rights of women.
Mr Atia said there are young ladies in its operational communities and schools sharing knowledge on financial literacy for a positive impact to transform the lives of more than one million women.
He observed that women are very good mortals who could change society positively when given the needed support and opportunity.
“The country would have been a better place if more women had taken political positions.”
Madam Ayi Sulemana, a regular listener of the programme indicated that it has made a positive change in her life.
Another listener, Sulemana Nash said based on the good teachings of the programme, he was motivated to donate cash to assist some females in their business ventures.
