Ghanaian student in US commits suicide
A Ghanaian graduate student in the US has been found dead in his room, according to a report by The Post, which has been seen by ghanabusinessnews.com.
The 35-year-old student, Albert Karikari of Ohio University was found dead from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head Saturday morning December 27, 2008. He was found dead by his wife Augustina Adusah Karikari and a friend in South Green residence hall where they lived.
After they discovered the body, the two reportedly contacted the Ohio University Police Department at about 11:30 a.m.
According to the Athens County Coroner who pronounced Karikari dead at the scene of the incident, “he was found on the floor of the library in Brown Hall.”
Karikari was studying for a graduate degree in educational research and evaluation. His Wife who lived with him and their two young daughters works as a residential coordinator for the University’s Department of Residence Life.
Details are yet to emerge about the type of gun he used and circumstances leading to the act, as authorities are still investigating.
A funeral would however be held for him in Athens County.
