Madina Municipality enhances revenue generation
The La-Nkwantanang- Madina Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) was able to net GH¢839,415.38 out of the estimated annual budget of GH¢1,052,952.00 in July.
Mr Franklin Anku, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who made this known on Thursday during the third ordinary session of the Assembly at Madina in Accra expressed the hope that the set target would be achieved in December to facilitate the execution of development projects.
He said a mobilisation task force has been constituted with the responsibility to mop up revenue, whilst the assembly is creating a data-base to have a realistic revenue projection to enhance tax collection.
He called on the Land Evaluation Board to revalue properties in the municipality to boost the internally generated fund.
Mr Anku said the Assembly has inaugurated an eight- member committee to disburse an amount of GH¢49,928.91 lodged in the Disability Fund Account.
He said some roads would be converted into one-way routes to help ease the traffic situation, while 46 road related projects have been awarded.
The projects include sealing and expansion of some roads as well as re-shaping and graveling.
Mr Anku said the Ghana Education Trust Fund is sponsoring the execution of two classroom blocks at Oyarifa Presby and Pantang Presby junior high schools.
The assembly has also acquired a land to put up an office complex.
Mr Anku warned that all unapproved structures including brothels and slums in the Municipality would be demolished.
He called on members of the assembly to facilitate the success of the exercise.
