Educate public to conserve energy – School Head
The Headmistress of Saint Louis Senior High School in Kumasi, Mrs Theresa Addae, has called for sustained public education to help conserve energy.
She said more should be done to encourage the wise use of electricity and cut down waste.
This comes amid the outcry and strong resentment against the recent hike in utility tariffs.
Speaking at a forum held to promote efficient use of electricity and water in the school, Mrs Addae said it was important for all to accept to show responsibility.
The programme was organized by the school’s branch of the Water and Energy Conservation Organization.
Mr. Ekow Cole, Ashanti East Regional Safety Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), advised against the use of sub-standard electrical materials to prevent fire accidents.
He reminded the students to turn off lights and other electrical gadgets when not in use to save cost.
