Street naming committee inaugurated at Odumase

market1A 13-member committee to supervise street naming and property addressing system in the Asante-Akim Municipality has been inaugurated at Odumase.

This is in response to the directive by the presidency to all metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to have streets within their jurisdiction named within 18 months.

Alhaji Braimah Boyong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), urged the members to work with zeal and passion to ensure successful execution of the project.

He said it should not be lost on them that their selection was based on their technical expertise and therefore the expectation was that they would deliver.

The project, on completion, would not only help to beautify the communities but make it easier for identification of properties, especially by visitors.

The MCE expressed optimism that it would also tremendously improve the database of the assembly and enhance revenue mobilization.

There is also the added high point of quicker responses to emergencies, he said, and called for public cooperation and support.

Ms. Abigail Bonnah, Team Leader of the Committee, pledged that they would not disappoint.

Mr. George Kyei Baffour, Presiding Member of the Assembly, entreated the committee to be tactful and diplomatic in its approach to minimize confrontation with the people.
