ECA Boss makes first official Ghana visit
Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Mr Carlos Lopes has arrived in Ghana to begin a two-day official visit.
This is Mr Lopes’ first visit to Ghana since he became the ECA Boss in September 2012.
While in Accra, Mr. Lopes is scheduled to meet Ghana’s President John Mahama and their meeting will focus on regional integration, the African transformation agenda and other issues of mutual interest between the ECA and Ghana.
He is also expected to meet Ghana’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry, and other Ministers working in the areas of economic planning and regional integration.
According to Mr Lopes, he will also participate in the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Institute of African Studies of the University of Ghana, and give the keynote address during their 2nd International Conference of African Studies.
