MTN donates computers to media
Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, Regional Senior Manager of MTN Ghana, has said the media continued to be a strategic partner for the growth and development of businesses in the country.
He said over the years, the media had helped MTN Ghana to mobilize and disseminate information on the company’s products and services.
Mr. Mohammed said this when he presented desk top computers and accessories to the Ghana News Agency, the Ghana Journalists Association and the Ghanaian Times.
He said the media had been identified for support as part of MTN’s vision of leading the delivery of “Bold New Digital World” and about 30 desktop computers and 10 printers would be distributed Nationwide.
The Ghana News Agency received two and GJA two desktop computers each and Ghanaian Times one.
Mr. Moses Dotsey Aklorbortu, Western Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association, appealed to journalists to see themselves as partners in development and not to use their medium to intimidate others.
He said the situation where some journalists filed their stories from internet cafes would be a thing of the past as the equipment would help resource the GJA centre.
Ms Felicia Yeboah, Western Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana, adding that the computers had come at the right time to enhance the work of the Agency.
