MTN trains youth in entrepreneurship

mtnMTN Ghana Foundation, a subsidiary of the leading telecommunications company MTN, on Thursday organized an entrepreneurial boot camp in Tamale to imbibe in the youth the culture of entrepreneurship to enable them to become self employed to contribute to the economic development of the nation.

Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Services Executive of MTN said entrepreneurs had contributed significantly to the development of their economies and urged the youth to develop their potentials to become great achievers in future.

“As you are aware, we are currently in an era where jobs are no longer a guarantee for university graduates. It is our responsibility as a society to provide the youth with the tools and guidance they need to take charge of their own future and turn the current situation around positively”, she said.

She said MTN Ghana Foundation was supporting the project with GH₵30,000, and will also provide modems and routers to winners of the group conference to bring successful business stories in future.

Mrs. Lumor said MTN was partnering with Enablis Entrepreneurial Network, a nongovernmental organization, for the project and added that the telecommunication giant had invested GH₵13 million in development projects across the country over the years.

Mr. Robert Yakohene, a business consultant told the youth that they had brighter future through business engagements and advised them to identify mentors in their chosen fields and cultivate positive skills to boost their chances.

He said getting capital to start business had always been problematic, particularly for the youth but urged them not to allow the situation to be a stumbling block since one could start a business without any capital.

Mr. Yakohene indicated that with strategic partnership, one could start any enterprise of one’s choice.
