Eight law students receive scholarship

The Lebanese community in Ghana has presented eight level 200 law students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with scholarship to support their pursuit of academic careers.

This would cover their accommodation and school fees.

This brings to 22, the number of tertiary students – seven at the University of Ghana, and the remaining, the Ghana Institute of Journalism, who are enjoying financial assistance from the Lebanese.

The beneficiaries were selected based on academic performance.

Mr. Ali Halabi, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, said the gesture was in appreciation of the extraordinary warm reception by the host country.

Ghanaians have over the years been very accommodating of Lebanese nationals, something they find deeply touching, he said.

He pledged the resolve of his country to continue to strengthen its bilateral relationship with Ghana for their mutual benefits.

He encouraged the students to remain focused and work hard to achieve their dreams.

Ambassador Halabi gave thumbs up to the KNUST for the tremendous contribution to the development of science and technology.

Professor William Otoo Ellis, Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST, expressed optimism that the scholarship would inspire the beneficiaries to strive for excellence.

He appealed to corporate bodies to help provide more resources towards the development of education.
