Chinese phone maker to set up assembling plant in Ghana

A Chinese Mobile Phone Company, Cellon Group of Company, is set to establish an assembling plant in Ghana.

Mr Dave Dai, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, announced this when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Employment, Nii Armah Ashitey on Wednesday.

Mr Dai said Ghana was chosen for the project because it is a preferred destination as far as enabling business environment is concerned on the continent.

He said they also chose Ghana because as the gateway to Africa, it would enable them supply to other African countries such as Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, among others.

Nii Ashitey said Ghana and China had a long standing relationship and the establishment of the plant would further deepen that relationship and commended the  Cellon Group of Companies for their initiative.

Mr Ashitey said the project would create more jobs for the youth as well as reducing the prize of mobile handset.
