GRA wants delays, frustrations at barriers to stop

The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) says it is determined to do everything to promote free movement of goods.

Mr Robert Nana Mensah, Chief Revenue Officer, Client Services, said there should be minimum delays to prevent revenue losses to the country.

Speaking at a day’s sensitization programme held for car dealers, transporters, Police personnel, Immigration officers and personnel from the GRA, he said it was important to make sure that international conventions were upheld.

He appealed to the police to collaborate with the Customs Division of the GRA to make this happen.

He said if the police had any reason to suspect a truck of carrying illegal goods, they should collaborate with the Division to allow for quicker checks.

This way, the delays and frustrations at police barriers would be removed, he said.

Mr Mensah advised transporters and truck drivers who mostly engaged in transiting of goods to consult the Division for assistance whenever they had a problem with their vehicles to prevent any conflict with the law.

Mr Kwaw Amihere, Revenue Officer, advised importers to seek help from the Customs before importing vehicles.
