New GIJ Board inaugurated
Mr Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister of Education on Friday inaugurated a ten-member Governing Board for the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
The board, which is chaired by Mr Berifi Apenteng, Former Director-General, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, would work to ensure that the GIJ achieved the mandate for which it was established.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, Mr Ablakwa, expressed satisfaction with GIJ’s new affiliation to the Ministry of Education which would enable it benefit from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).
He added that GIJ’s affiliation to Ministry of Education would enable it access all benefits given to institutions affiliated to the Ministry.
He pledged Government’s readiness to assist the Institute develop its new site at Adjiringano in order to accommodate its growing number of students.
Mr Berifi Apenteng, on behalf of the board members expressed his appreciation to Government for the trust reposed in them and pledged to work to ensure the success of GIJ.
The members are Mr Berefi Apenteng, Chairman; Ms Rose Ardayfio, Government Appointee; Mr Eric Atieku, Government Appointee; Mr David Newton, GIJ Rector; Mr Paul Krampa, Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Education and Mr Tim Quarshiegah, member GIJ Academic Board.
The rest are Mr Ransford Tetteh, Representative from the media; Mr Kodwo Jonas Anson Boateng, member of GIJ convocation ; Dr Wilberforce Sefakor Disah, GIJ Alumni and Mr Noel Nutsugah, Student Representative Council President of GIJ.
