KP Boateng benched for Egypt clash
Coach Kwasi Appiah has benched Kevin Prince Boateng ahead of Ghana’s final World Cup qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt later today (Tuesday).
The Schalke 04 midfielder will start from the bench as Asamoah Gyan partners Abdul Majeed Waris upfront.
The 26 year-old could play for the Black Stars for the first time in the qualifier since rescinding his decision to call time on his international career last September.
Appiah has included Esperance defender Harrison Afful in the team after the player missed the first leg in Kumasi due to card accumulation.
Centre backs Jerry Akaminko and Rashid Sumaila keep their places, as does Daniel Opare, who starts at left back.
Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien will be at the heart of midfield, with Andre Ayew and Kwadwo Asamoah taking charge of the flanks.
Ghana have a 6-1 advantage and must avoid a five unanswered goals defeat to book a third successive appearnce at the Brazil 2014 gathering.
Starting line-up: Fatau Dauda, Harrison Afful, Daniel Opare, Jerry Akaminko, Rashid Sumaila, Michael Essien, Andre Ayew, Sulley Muntari, Abdul Majeed Waris, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah.
