Police asks public to be alert as Xmas approaches
Superintendent Kwadwo Asante, Ga West Municipal Police Commander, has cautioned the public especially filling station owners, businessmen and women to be vigilant as criminals may want to take advantage of them as Christmas approaches.
He said: ”With Christmas at the corner, criminals may strike and likely targets may include filling stations, livestock farms, women and children, traders and boutiques.”
Supt Asante, who made this known in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region at the weekend, said the command would combat any deviant activity by intensifying its security patrols and check points at some vintage points.
He urged the inhabitants to assist the police with information on suspicious characters and criminals living among them to help flash them out on time before they cause havoc.
Supt Asante asked the public to beef up their internal security with security guards, sophisticated padlocks or alarms as well as security cameras.
He asked law abiding citizens to co-operate with the police to fight crime and protect lives and property.
Supt Asante said the public should patronise police emergency telephone numbers especially the 18555 in times of distress.
