Tema Metro embarks on massive cleanup exercise
The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) over the weekend embarked on a massive clean-up exercise in the Tema Metropolis in preparation towards the Yuletide.
The exercise which was led by Mr Isaac Ashia Odamtten, Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Tema, kicked started exactly 0800hrs and was largely supported by the entire people of the harbour city.
The exercise took place at the Community One, Community Two, Community Eight markets, as well as the Mankoadze Roundabout and the Community Nine cemetery.
According to Mr Odamtten, communal work needed collective collaboration from all, and TMA had taken the bold step to ensure that market places and the various homes were clean and tidy.
He appealed to all and sundry to make clean up exercises part of their daily lives and urged them not to stop cleaning their environments after the event.
He added that making the Tema Metropolis clean was a key priority in his administration, saying he would ensure that the clean up exercise becomes a household name among the entire people of the Metropolis.
Market women at the Community One Market used the occasion to call on the government to help them refurbish the market to attract more clients.
