Catholic Archdiocese presents items to Tamale prisons

The Tamale Archdiocese of the Catholic Church has presented assorted food items to support the upkeep of the inmates and officers of the Tamale Prison.

The items, worth GH₵ 4,000, included cartons of biscuits and washing soap and bags of rice and maize.

The Most Reverend Philip Naameh, Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, who presented the items at a ceremony on Friday, said the Christmas season signified love and peace that the birth of Jesus Christ brought to humanity.

He appealed to people to share the gift of love with all especially the needy and inmates in the various prisons and that showing love could help transform the lives of inmates.

The Most Rev. Naameh advised the inmates to remain steadfast in God and eschew negative lifestyle adding that the prison should serve as a caution to people with questionable characters in society.

He commended the prison officers for their guidance and direction towards helping transform the inmates.

Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), William Ofori-Anoff, Northern Regional Commander of Prisons, who received the items, commended the Catholic Church for its continues care and support to the inmates as well as its contribution to national development.

He said the items would help all the 266 inmates to partake in the celebration of Christmas and appealed to other well-wishers to emulate the Catholic Church.
