Good marketers must be creative – Anne Godfrey
Mrs Anne Godfery, Chief Executive Officer, Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, said a good marketer must come out with creative ideas to be used for problem solutions.
“Creativity is one of the most important in an individual who seeks to be a marketer and that an effective marketer must manage company risk and govern the reputation of the company through monitoring of regulations to ensure compliance” she said.
Mrs Godfrey said this at a public lecture of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Ghana in Accra under the theme “Attaining Professional Marketing Standards: Capabilities and Competencies.”
She said the main goal of marketers was to impress their customers, and in so doing they must be the voices of consumers, know what they want and what consumers think about marketers.
Mrs Godfery said a survey revealed that 60 percent of the people did not know what marketers do, whether product service and category, stressing those marketers has the ability to work with others to the benefits of the business and its goals.
She noted that employers are looking at responsible and ethical marketers who conduct themselves in an appropriate way and reflect on their services, urging marketers to focus on consumer research and brand since branding tells all about a company
Mr Adams Sully, chairman for the occasion said, marketers should go to other areas to broaden their knowledge and explore more business opportunities.
“A marketing personnel or practitioner can go into finance and other businesses to help acquire more knowledge and help deal with situations easily” he added.
