Call Ho Municipal Assembly to account – Internal Auditor

Mr Abdulai Gafaru, Internal Auditor of the Ho Municipal Assembly, has urged residents within the Municipality, to hold the Assembly  accountable.

He said, anyone could walk to the Assembly and demand information on issues related to the Assembly’s   budget, income and expenditure.

Information on the Assembly’s budget is also available on the website of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Mr Gafaru was speaking at the Third Social Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (SEFA) Forum   on Financial Reporting and Auditing of the Assembly, which focused on the rationale for, importance of,  and legal framework governing Financial Reporting and Auditing of the Municipal Assembly.

It was organised by the Assembly in collaboration with the Community Development Concern (CDC) a non- governmental organisation.

Mr Gafaru said “we need the general public to work well.”

He hinted that a time will come when revenue from the public rather than the Common Fund will be used in financing the development programmes of the Assembly.

Mr Garafu said a new Shopping Mall at the Civic Centre and the Ahoe market are evidences of what the Assembly can do on its own with the support of the public.

He said government support to the Assembly is based on assessment of the performance of the staff.

A representative of the physically challenged, appealed to the Assembly to make provision for that segment of the society in its composite budget.
