EDAIF maintains support for producers and entrepreneurs

EntrepreneurEDAIF has since the beginning of this year maintained strong support for Ghanaian producers and entrepreneurs through a number of initiatives and financial assistance.

A Graduate Enterprise Development Initiative has been launched to provide financial and technical resources to budding entrepreneurs.

Under phase one of this initiative, 20 young graduates would receive up to GH¢100,000 each to develop their projects.

Similarly, an elaborate Cassava Integrated Enterprise Development Project has been put in place to increase economic opportunities in Ghana through sustainable and competitive cassava production, marketing and agro-enterprise development.

A statement signed by Dr Barfour Osei, Chief Executive Officer EDAIF said the body has likewise broadened financial package to increase the number of acreage it has supported under its mango project.

In addition, over the period January- April this year, the EDAIF Board has approved nearly GH¢ 22.0 million in grants and credits for 32 beneficiaries across various activities and sectors.

In agricultural production and processing, activities that have received support include processing of groundnut into edible oil, production of honey and pineapples, sheanut and rice processing among others.

Support for the poultry industry has continued with a number of poultry associations receiving financial assistance. Also, a number of public and private organisations have been supported to participate in international trade fairs and exhibitions.

Support for SMEs have been varied with activities including production of aluminum cookware and roofing sheets, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products receiving financial assistance under the Fund’s Credit Facility.

The Board and Management of EDAIF is encouraging small-holder Ghanaian cooperatives, associations, businesses to contact the organisation for further information.
