Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly achieves 91 per cent revenue target
The Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly mobilized more than GH¢621,000 in internally-generated revenue, last year, Alhaji Braimah Boyong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has announced.
This represented 91 per cent of the targeted GH¢680,000 it had set to collect during the period.
Addressing a performance review meeting at Konongo, he said the Assembly would have to be innovative and step up its efforts to rake in more money from internal sources.
This, he said, was important to enable it to bring development and transform the lives of the people in the various communities.
Stakeholders, including revenue collectors, traders, miners, drivers, bakers, butchers, food joint and drinking spot operators, gathered to discuss ways of improving the revenue collection performance.
The Assembly has budgeted to collect revenue of GH¢785,954, this year.
Alhaji Boyong urged them to work together to achieve substantial growth in revenue, adding that, they could not continue to rely solely on the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for development.
For 2013 and 2014, it received a total of GH¢1.8 million as its share of the DACF. The District Development Fund (DDF) added GH¢363,000.
