Ghana, India bilateral trade grows 55% in five years
Bilateral trade between Ghana and India has grown 55 percent in five years, according to data provided by the Indian High Commission in Ghana and computed by ghanabusinessnews.com.
In 2009-2010 the total bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to $537.5 million and in 2013-2014 the figure rose to $1.2 billion.
While India exports to Ghana amounted to $830 million in 2014, Ghana exports to India amounted to $370 million.
India exports to Ghana include capital goods, pharmaceuticals products, cotton yarn, fabrics, machinery and instruments. They also comprise of sugar, glass and glassware, ceramics, transport equipment, paper and wood products.
The others are semi-finished iron and steel, rubber, cosmetics and toiletries, electronic goods, organic/inorganic agro chemicals, and Basmati rice etc.
Ghana however exported the following to India: gold, cocoa, bauxite, manganese ore, diamonds, Ttmber (mainly teak), cashew, fruits and nuts, metal ores and scrap etc.
