Dr Henry Herbert Lartey, Leader and 2012 Presidential Candidate of the Great Consolidated People Party (GCPP) on Wednesday said the party is poised to win Election 2016.

He said Ghana needs a new political party to facilitate national reconstruction processes and the GCPP has positioned itself well to assume such responsibility.

Addressing teeming supporters at the party’s Brong-Ahafo Regional Congress on Wednesday in Sunyani, Dr Lartey explained that the GCPP has strengthened its internal structures especially at regional and constituency levels to be able to reach out and interact with Ghanaian voters at the grassroots.

The congress elected a nine- member regional executive chaired by Mr Christian Kyere to steer its affairs for the next four years.

Dr Lartey said the confusion and brawl which has rocked the rank and file of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party, is an indication that it is not ready to capture power from the National Democratic Congress.

He explained that the GCPP would soon organise its national delegate’s conference to elect new executives after which it would launch the national campaign for Election 2016.

Dr Lartey observed that the party has failed in selling its ideologies and philosophies to the voting population and therefore appealed to the regional and constituency executives to do that in a more proactive and responsive manner.

He said voters, especially at the grassroots level would understand and vote for the party if they are abreast of the ideals upon which the GCPP was founded.

Mr John Ameka, the 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the GCPP, said the constituency executives hold the strength of the party, and asked the regional executives to ensure that they interact with them regularly.

This, he said would enable them to easily identify, and find lasting solutions to challenging problems confronting the party.

Mr Ameka said the national leadership is prepared to provide financial and logistical supports to the regional offices and appealed to the executives to avoid tendencies that could create division and affect the fortunes of GCPP in Election 2016.
