Board of Directors of E-Crime Bureau inaugurated

Cyber fraudA nine-member Board of Directors of E-Crime Bureau was on Friday inaugurated to give strategic direction and also to plan effectively, ways of ensuring cyber security in the country.

The members include Mr D.K Mensah, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Association of Bankers, Commissioner of Police. Prosper Kwame Agblor, Director General, Criminal Investigation Department, Mr Albert Antwi-Boasiako, Director, E-Crime Bureau and Lieutenant Colonel Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, Former National Security Coordinator.

The rest include Mr Sam Aning, Lecturer, African University College of Communication, Dr Adu Anane Antwi, Director General, Securities and Exchange Commission, Colonel Emmanuel Kotia, Security Expert, Kofi Annan International Peace-keeping Training Centre, Dr Suzanne Nti, Former Deputy Director, Judicial Training Institute and Mr Kwame Antwi-Boasiako, Finance Director, Central University College.

Mr Albert Antwi-Boasiako, Founder of the bureau, explained that it was the first cyber security specialist firm with a state-of-the art E-crime laboratory, established and fully operated in West Africa.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako said the firm has supported both public and the private sector with training and research, consulting services, cyber security technology support, investigations assistance and capacity building.

“Our outfit has also supported organisations and stakeholders in the area of financial crime management, anti-money laundering, cash handling, forensic audit and documents counterfeit detection,” he added.

Mr Mensah, who is also the chairman of the board, thanked management for the opportunity and the confidence repose in them and promise to work diligently to advance the objectives of the firm.

He said e-crime related issues have become rampant and as such there was the urgent need to curb the situation and put in place proactive strategies to address emerging cyber crimes across the country.
