Jomoro Assembly approves 2016 budget

BudgetThe Jomoro District Assembly at its first sitting at Half Assini, has approved the 2016 Composite budget of GH¢7,611,687.46) to finance developmental projects.

Mr De-graft Abotare, District Budget officer of the Assembly presented the budget to the Assembly at Half-Assini in the Western Region.

He said revenue would be generated from the Internally Generated Fund (IGF), Central Government, District Development Fund (DDF) / Donors and the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

The Budget officer disclosed that GH¢703,269.34 would be derived from IGF while GH¢1,228,479.56 would come from Government

He said DDF/Donors would fetch the Assembly GH¢1,653,727.00, while GH¢4,018,610.96 would come from the District Assembly Common Fund.

On disbursement of the revenue, Mr Abotare indicated that it would be on Compensation, Goods/Services and Assets.

He said the chunk of the money involving GH¢ 4,547,672.26 would go to Assets Budget.

According to the District Budget officer, Goods/Services would receive a total of GH¢1,953,463.68.

The remaining GH¢1,103,113.58 would go to the Compensation Budget.

Giving an overview of the Budget, Mr Abotare said the 2016 Composite Budget was prepared from the 2016 Annual Action Plan of the Assembly.

It was lifted from the 2014-2017 District Medium Term Development Plan aligned to the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda.

Mr Prince Charles Ndarko-Kwaw, the new Presiding Member of the Assembly reminded the members of the non-partisan nature of the Assembly.

Mr Ndarko-Kwaw urged them to place the development of the district above their political and personal interest.

He called for the support, cooperation and understanding of members for the smooth running of the District to see development.

He said his doors are opened 24 hours for any positive and constructive advice and contributions in the interest of the Jomoro District citizenry.
