A British testing company, Lloyds British Testing is the latest to head towards Ghana to provide services to the oil industry.

A report carried by the Birmingham Post says, the Birmingham-based lifting engineering specialist is capitalizing on the growth of Ghana’s oil business to open a new division in the country. The company is strategically setting up in Takoradi in the Western Region.

The company’s other offices in Africa are in South Africa and Egypt. It also has offices in other European countries and in Asia.

The Ghana office is expected to support the increasing demand in Africa for it’s products and services from both the oil and gas industries.

According to Lloyds British Testing’s chief executive Ian White, “This is a major investment for us. However, we are convinced that our marketplace in Ghana and its surrounds will reap sizeable benefits for the business and enhance our extensive international client base.

“Through our new office, customers in West Africa will gain access to our existing network of facilities, which include lifting equipment, certification, inspection training and repair.”

The Ghana office will be headed by Raphael Koffi. He has worked for several years within the oil industry, including some time in Ivory Coast.

The company hopes to expand in West Africa by opening additional offices in Nigeria and Ivory Coast.
