President Mahama sacks Justice Ajet-Nasam for misbehaviour

The President, John Mahama has directed that Justice John Ajet-Nasam and Justice Ernest Obimpeh shuld be removed from office for stated misbehavior.

A press release from the Judicial Council says the decision follows recommendations of the Impeachment Committee that was set to investigate the conduct of the judges in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.

The two judges were among the more than 20 judges of the High Courts and Magistrates who were caught on video receiving bribes and twisting justice.

Another justice of the High Court, Justice Ringo Cass Akurugu Azumah was also sacked on the grounds of stated misbehaiour and incompetence.

Undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in a sting operation across the country, caught judges and magistrates in compromising conducts, receiving bribes and setting suspects free including some before them for sexual offences, armed robbery and murder.

In December 2015, the Judicial Council sacked of 21 Circuit Court Judges and Magistrates caught on tape in bribery scandals. They were investigated for misconduct after investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas filed a petition for their removal.
