East Mamprusi to increase revenue mobilization

Mr. Adam Imoro, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the East Mamprusi has expressed the determination of the assembly to strive harder to adopt modalities to improve its internally generated funds to facilitate development.

He said available records at the assembly show an abysmal revenue mobilization in the past because all businesses in the district had not been registered hence the difficulty in taxing them for more revenue.

Mr. Imoro, who was speaking in an interview with the GNA in Gamabaga on Friday explained that as part of measures to improve the situation, all business entities operating in the district will be classified into small, medium and large and would be issued with certificates to pay required operational tax.

He said the district assembly, in collaboration with the Rural Enterprises Project will periodically offer training and orientation to owners of the registered businesses to help them manage their businesses effectively to improve their profit making.

On development, he said all projects started under the previous government would not be abandoned and that in line with President Mills’ pledge to continue with the good programmes inherited, he will also do all he could to complete such projects that have a direct bearing on the well-being of the people.

Mr. Imoro also disclosed that a tenancy agreement has been reached with a Langensi landlord to provide accommodation for police officers who will be posted to man the Langbensi police station, a community in the district.

He said he was also in consultation with the Nayiri and his elders to ensure that the Nalerigu market complex, which was constructed in 2008 at the cost GH¢80 thousand was opened for commercial activities.
