Don’t be swayed by interest rates – Apex Bank
Management of ARB Apex Bank has advised Ghanaians not to be influenced by improbable interest rates offered by unfamiliar financial institutions to lose their monies.
Mr George Odei Annor, Western Regional Manager of the ARB Apex Bank Limited, said it was beneficial saving with credible banks, which offer reasonable interest rate than dumping huge sums of money at unfamiliar banks for attractive rates only to be deceived.
Mr Annor offered the advice at the commissioning of a building to house the Ahantaman Rural Bank at Kojokrom, a marketing centre in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region.
He expressed the determination of the Apex Bank to ensure that the rural banks operated creditably to satisfy the desired needs of customers.
Mr Benjamin Afful Eshun, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ahantaman Rural Bank, said the Bank has introduced innovations into their operation to attract more customers and urged the community members to take advantage and save with the Bank which would grant them loans to meet their needs.
He said loans were in place for businesses, marriage, vacation, invalidity and emergencies among others.
He said the Ahantaman Bank which has been in operation for almost 31 years with its head quarters at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region has four branches in the Metropolis.
Mr Eshun said management intended to bring banking services to the doorsteps of its customers, especially traders for easy access to banking services hence the establishment of the Bank in the centre of the town.
Mr Vincent Blaichie Essien, Board Chairman, admonished Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of savings to help them improve on their lives when the need arises.
Madam Esi Fosuwaa, a 65-year-old yam seller and a customer of the Bank, advised others to save with reputable banks, because she has benefited from loans from some bank for the expansion of her business and it has also helped her to cater for all her five children who have completed tertiary institutions.
