Ecobank Ghana MD assigned to Central, Eastern & Southern Africa region
The Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Mr. Samuel Ashitey Adjei has been appointed Managing Director for the Ecobank Group’s recently combined region: Central, Eastern, and Southern African (CESA) Countries, consisting of 18 subsidiaries.
Mr Adjei who runs the Ecobank Group’s West African Monetary Zone member countries, will retire as MD of Ecobank Ghana on March 30, 2016, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of the Ecobank Group announced Tuesday February 16, 2016.
According to Ecobank, Mr Adjei joined the bank in 1990, holding several business leadership positions until his appointment as Managing Director, and is credited with building the bank from 8 to 78 branches since assuming office as MD in 2006.
Prior to the MD role, He was Deputy Managing Director for a year, and following that, was an executive director, and head of Corporate Banking & Treasury.
“A renowned banker in the Ghana banking industry, Sam has influenced policies and industry transformation, and is a well-respected banking professional across the market,” the bank said of him.
According to the Board Chairman of Ecobank Ghana, Mr Terence Darko, the Board will immediately launch the process of selecting a successor to Mr. Adjei, to be concluded by April 30, 2016.
