Kotoko wins first match in 2015/16 League season
Kumasi Asante Kotoko S/C made amends as they won their first Ghana Premier League fixture in a Match Day Five clash of the 2015/2016 season, beating visiting Hasaacas 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.
It was their third home match of the season and the results leaves them on five points on the log but still languishing at the bottom of the league log.
Having squandered numerous chances in the first half, burly striker, Kwame Boateng, broke the deadlock on 71st minute, taking on the Hasacas defence to beat advancing goalie, George Owu.
The Porcupine Warriors in the first quarter of the game, piled-up pressure on the visitors, but lack of precision upfront saw many of their set-pieces go waste as the likes of Dauda Mohammed and Mike Yeboah failed to find the back of the net.
Eric Bekoe, against the run of play, nearly punished the homers for sloppy marking in the 44th minute, intercepting a pass and raced past two defenders, but goalie Ernest Sowah punched his shot to safety to end the first half.
The Porcupine Warriors commenced the second half with an all-attacking strategy which paid off in the 71st minute when striker Boateng shot past Hassacas goalie Owu, to win the day for the homers.
