Police urge churches, mosques to strengthen security
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, has called for the churches and mosques to take steps to strengthen their internal security arrangements amid the growing terror threats.
He said ensuring maximum safety at the worship centres should be made an urgent priority.
Addressing a meeting with religious leaders in Kumasi, he said the police service was ready to assist them to get the right things done to assure worshippers of their safety.
DCOP Boakye said it should not be business as usual and everybody should remain on the alert.
He spoke of frequent visits to the worship centres by Divisional Police Commanders to give the congregation security tit-bits to aid them to flag down to the security agencies any suspicious persons and unattended items.
The Reverend Father Yaw Barimah, a Catholic Priest, invited the religious groups to work together to promote peace and prevent violence.
