GH¢1.3 million approved for development in Kwahu South

The Kwahu South District Assembly on Friday approved a GH¢1.3 million budget to finance a number of development project, complete on-going ones, undertake valuation of property, rehabilitating of assembly vehicles as well as ensure waste and sanitation management and also organize capacity building training workshop for its staff.

The development projects to be undertaken included construction and rehabilitation of markets, classroom blocks, guest houses, hand- dug-wells, places of convenience and feeder roads.

The budget, which was approved at an emergency meeting of the assembly at Mpraeso, would be financed from the assembly’s share of the Common Fund and other internally generated revenue.

Presenting the budget, the Finance and Administration Sub- Committee Chairman of the Assembly, Mr George Asiamah, commended the District Chief Executive, Mr Joseph Omari, for allowing the assembly members to include needy projects from their electoral areas in the budget.

Mr Omari on his part, advised the assembly members to supervise the projects to ensure quality execution of work by the contractors.

He urged them not to collude with contractors to divert some of the construction materials for their personal use.

Mr Omari advised the assembly members to assist revenue collectors to generate enough revenue to help finance more development projects in the communities.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Frank Ofosu-Kissi, advised the assembly members to visit their electoral areas to know the problems of the people and present them to the Assembly for solution.
