CPP tags agriculture as key for national development

Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, Presidential Nominee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has stated that a massive investment in the agricultural sector is the key to reducing poverty and increasing growth.

He said the country’s fertile lands, climate, access to water resources as well as a hardworking people meant that if Ghana organises herself well, the nation could feed itself as well as the sub-region.

“This is an area where we have a clear comparative advantage as a nation and must re-allocate scarce state resources into boosting it,” Mr Greenstreet stated.

He was speaking during interaction with the Chief and elders of Sandema traditional area in the Builsa North District, as part of the new covenant (Apam Foforↄ) National Campaign tour in Upper East.

The visit was led by the Third National Vice Chairman – Alhaji Tijani Rahman and the Upper East Regional executives.

Meanwhile, hundreds of party supporters who were drawn from various electoral areas as well as market women, drivers and passers-by within the main lorry station of the town gathered to listen to the “Siuk-paluk” (Apam Foforↄ in Builsa).

The mood of the audience was indicative that the message was well received and that the fortunes of CPP in the region would improve considering the sustained campaign and interaction with the people.

The entourage also held rallies in Kubori and Kunkwa both within the Yagaba Kubori constituency in the Northern Region.
