Let’s forgive Sulley Muntari – Majeed Waris
Black Stars Striker Abdul Majeed Waris has called on Ghanaians to forgive Sulley Ali Muntari for his misconduct during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Muntari rendered an apology A few days ago for his actions, following a physical attack on a Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah Parker during a meeting between the Management and the players over unpaid bonuses at the global showpiece.
The midfielder was then handed an indefinite suspension for his actions, which caused an embarrassment to Ghana.
However, Waris, who was a member of the squad that played at the World Cup has appealed to Ghanaians to forgive the Saudi- Arabia based player for the unfortunate incident in Brazil.
Waris told the GNA Sports that ‘‘let’s forgive Sulley. For me, I always believe that everyone makes mistakes. If someone makes a mistake and realizes the fault, despite the time lapse, I think we should listen to the apology and forgive the person because we all human beings are prone to making mistakes’’.
The Lorient FC forward said he enjoyed playing with Muntari when he (Waris) earned his debut call-up to the Senior National team, saying that, ‘‘I respect Sulley a lot and like his style of play on the field. He’s a great player.
‘‘I know the kind of person he is. I’m a striker and I would say I like him because he passes the ball upfront. If you look at my goals for the national team, most of the time he gives me the pass to score. As a person, he is very encouraging and motivating, so let’s forgive him’’.
Waris said he has learnt a lot, in terms of development and attitude since joining the Black Stars.
