Ghana to contest Egypt, Uganda, Congo for 2018 World Cup ticket
Ghana will contest Egypt, Uganda, and Congo in Group E for a place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup (WC) to be staged in Russia.
The third round of the Africa Zone qualifiers, which was held on Friday June 24 in Cairo, will see the Black Stars meeting seven times African Champions Egypt at the Group stage of the qualifiers.
Ghana defeated Egypt 7-3 on aggregate over the two legs in the last edition of the WC qualifiers and is chasing a fourth successive appearance at the global showpiece.
Ghana’s campaign for a slot at the tourney starts with Coach Avram Grant’s charges hosting Uganda on October 10, before slugging it out with Egypt on November 15 in Cairo.
The rest of the matches will be played next year to determine which team books a place at the biggest soccer competition.
