Carlos Lopes appointed to Global Commission on the Economy and Climate
Dr. Carlos Lopes, UN Under-Secretary and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has been appointed a commissioner for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate (GCEC).
His appointment was confirmed at a major meeting of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate in London June 29, 2016, a press release from the ECA says.
The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate is a major international initiative to examine how countries can achieve economic growth while dealing with the risks posed by climate change. The Commission comprises former heads of government and finance ministers and leaders in the fields of economics and business, the release added.
