Akufo-Addo assures farmers of increased support
Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to make sure that the growth of the nation’s agriculture is made an urgent priority if voted to power.
He said more support would be given to farmers to substantially boost crop yield and returns to transform their living conditions.
Addressing a mini political rally at Nsawam as part of his five-day tour of the Eastern Region to woo voters ahead of this year’s election, Nana Akufo-Addo said the same level of assistance would be given to both cocoa and other crop growers.
He pointed out that agriculture was vital to the economy and that everything would be made to make it more vibrant, attractive and rewarding.
He rallied the people to remain vigilant during the coming presidential and parliamentary polls to ensure that the verdict of voters was respected.
They should help protect the ballot and the credibility of the election – to prevent rigging.
Nana Akufo-Addo criticized the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for, what he said was its poor handling of the economy, which had led to widespread suffering and growing unemployment among the youth and gave the assurance that the NPP would fix things.
He repeated his election promise to build a factory in every district and said this would bring jobs to the people to reverse the rural-urban drift.
Accompanied by some leading figures of the party including Mr. Yaw Oasfo Marfo, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Members of Parliament (MPs), he earlier addressed similar rallies at Fotobi, Otukwadwo, Adeiso and Asamankese.
