GIMPA commences three new programmes in 2017
The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) School of Technology would, in 2017, commence three new programmes.
The programmes; Doctor of Philosophy in Information System and Technology, Master of Science in Telecommunication Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management, aim at promoting technology and innovation for a digital Africa.
Professor Franklyn Achampong Manu, the Rector of GIMPA, said the institute had also started the process of developing a new strategic plan for the next five years.
Addressing the 16th Congregation of the institute in Accra on Friday, Prof. Manu said it was the hope of Management and the Board of GIMPA that the new plan would bring about improvement in service delivery, design of market-relevant programmes, enhanced infrastructure and greater human resource capabilities.
Prof Manu, therefore, challenged graduands not to make their toil and hard work be in vain but must make an impact through their output at their various workplaces and future endeavours.
“As I always say, remember where you are coming from and the sacrifices that have brought you this far.
It is our hope and prayer that you will go forth into the world and put your skills and knowledge to the service of mankind,” he said.
Reverend Father Andrews Campbell, the Founder of the Sacred Heart Parish Junior High School, urged graduands to lead exemplary lives and perform exceptionally in their chosen professions always knowing that God is with them.
“Strife to be patriotic, be agents of change, selfless men and women of honesty and integrity and be a model of humility and patient leaders,” he said.
Dr Christina Amoako-Nuama, the Chairman for the GIMPA Governing Council, congratulated graduands for their tireless efforts and urged them to continue to learn to improve their knowledge and skills so as to impact lives and society positively.
Ms Bertha Amartefio, the best student in Master of Business Administration, Accounting and Taxation, in her valedictory address, encouraged her colleagues to forge ahead and project the image of their Alma Mata.
“We have not just been trained to read books, but our skills and knowledge acquired should encourage us to excel at our various sectors,” she said.
Mrs Portia Adukai Hammond, who graduated in Master of Business Administration Supply Chain, was adjudged the overall best student.
The 2016 Congregation marked the last report of Prof. Franklyn Achampong Manu, the current Rector of GIMPA.
