President completes “Accounting to the People Tour”

President John Mahama has completed his “Accounting to the People Tour” of the country making a compelling argument that “I have done well to deserve a second term in office”.

President Mahama, who was speaking during a courtesy call on the Regent of Dagbon at the forecourt of his palace at Yendi on Thursday, said his government had undertaken a lot of projects across the country hence the need to retain him in power.

The President’s tour of the Northern Region, which began on Wednesday, was the last leg of his “Accounting to the People Tour” of the country, which began some months ago.

The tour took the President to various parts of the country to inspect ongoing projects, inaugurate completed ones as well as cut sod to commence new ones.

President Mahama described the “Accounting to the People Tour” as very successful saying he was not able to even visit one-tenth of the development projects his administration had undertaken.

He spoke about agriculture saying the government was working to improve production in the sector to make the country self-sufficient in food production by the year 2020.

He said some major markets were also being built at some major cities across the country to promote commerce as well as help to market farm produce.

President Mahama appealed to the Regent of Dagbon to continue to work to ensure peace in the Dagbon Traditional Area to promote economic activities in the area.

He earlier inaugurated an Engineering Laboratory at the Tamale Polytechnic and inspected ongoing works on upgrading of the Dabokpa Technical Institute in Tamale.

Kampakuyana Abdulai Yakubu Andani, Regent of Dagbon commended government for initiating many of development projects in his area.

He appealed to government to work to improve the water situation in the Yendi Municipality.
