Land guards are a hindrance to development – MD

LandMr Jamal Muniru, the Managing Director of Minimal Construction and Furniture Works in Accra, has called on land owners to stop engaging land guards as they are a nuisance to development.

He said the earlier the landlords put a stop to their services the better for the development of the country.

Mr Muniru, also an opinion leader at Papase near Adjen Kotoku in the Ga West Municipality, made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Taifa on Wednesday.

He said land guards had prevented investments into small scale industries by entrepreneurs which could create job opportunities for the people because they feared their properties would be destroyed.

“These guards are the same people who cause enmity among chiefs who have to battle land litigation with resources which are supposed to be spent on developmental projects,” he said.

Mr Muniru said Papase lands could be used for school infrastructures, housing, and small scale industries among other things to engage the youth in some gainful activities.

He advised the youth to stop alcoholism, smoking of marijuana, gambling and other social vices which could destroy their future.

Mr Muniru urged the school children to take their lessons seriously and guardians to enroll their children in school so as to become useful to themselves and the nation.
