World Bank gives Ghana $15m assistance for debt management and domestic revenue mobilization

The World Bank has given Ghana $15 million financing to assist the country in its domestic revenue mobilization and debt management, among other things.

In press release issued August 30, 2016 and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, the World Bank said the support is to strengthen the country’s institutional capacity in domestic revenue mobilization, public investment management, debt management, and governance of State owned Enterprises (SOEs).

The release also notes that reforming the governance of SOEs and improving government’s oversight will help improve public service delivery and contribute to economy-wide competitiveness.

The Executive Board of the World Bank approved the $15 million Ghana Economic Management Strengthening (GEMS) Technical Assistance Project, it added.

According to the Bank the project will specifically support improvements in the Ministry of Finance; the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA); the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC); targeted SOEs; and select Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
