Comorans greet news of Ethiopian flights to capital with great expectations

Citizens of the archipelago nation in the Indian Ocean, the Union of the Comoros are looking forward with great expectations for the start of flights to the island by Ethiopian Airlines.

Information reaching ghanabusinessnews.com from the island following a story on the announcement indicates that most citizens of the Comoros view the development positively, as it would mean possibly cheaper airfares and convenient travelling.

There are indications that Ministry of Transport officials in the islands are expecting to sign an MoU with Ethiopian Airlines.

More than 350,000 Comorans live abroad and more than 200,000 of them in France alone.

While flights from France to hubs like Dar-es-Salam, Nairobi on other airlines are cheaper, flights connecting from these cities to Moroni are expensive.

Currently, the Comoros has no national career. Most airlines operating on the island are privately owned and tickets are expensive.

According to Ethiopian Airlines, it has finalized preparations to launch the flights “as of October 30, 2016.”

“The flights to Moroni will be operated thrice weekly via Dar es Salaam,” the Airlines said.
