Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of Asogli Traditional Area, would, on Friday, lead the chiefs and people of Asogli and Ewes from the Volta Region  to Notse , their ancestral home in the Republic of Togo, on an annual pilgrimage.

Each year, the visit coincides with the celebration of Agbogboza, – a cultural festival of the chiefs and people of Notse, which attracts Ewes from across the world, especially from Germany, Benin, Nigeria and Ghana.

Togbe Afede and his entourage are expected to return on Sunday 4th September 2016 after a grand durbar to climax the Agbogboza.

A press release signed by Mr Stephen Tetteh, the Secretary to the Asogli State, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said about 1,600 Ewes from the Volta Region would embark on the trip.

“Apart from its historic significance, the pilgrimage is also educative and offers opportunities for social interaction and friendship with our kith and kin from Togo and Benin who all assemble at Notse for the celebration of Agbogboza,” it said.
