Awuley Quaye returns to Egypt
Ghanaian midfielder Awuley Quaye Jnr has staged a return to the Egyptian top-flight after agreeing a three-year deal with Ittihad.
The Alexandria-based side Ittihad will be counting on Awuley Quaye’s rich international experience, the midfielder having already played with Tunisia’s Club Sportive Sfaxien (2002-2004) and Zamalek.
Ittihad are currently placed-eighth in the league table at the half-way mark.
The 28-year-old featured for Zamalek for two years before he quit at the end of the 2007 season for the Gulf. He was in the Zamalek side that campaigned in the 2005 CAF Champions League.
A son of former international Awuley Quaye, he was a member of the Ghana team beaten in the final of the 1997 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Egypt. He was also part of the squad that lifted the 1999 Africa Youth Championship on home soil.
