Bag of cement penalty for communal labour defaulters
People who fail to participate in communal labour at Pomadze in the Central Region, would pay a bag of cement as penalty for the offence.
Gomoaba Nana Apata Kofi V, Chief of Gomoa Pomadze and Guantoahene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Pomadze after leading his people in a three-hour cleaning up activities as part of this month’s National Sanitation Day.
Nana Apata Kofi said the bags of cement that would be collected from the defaulters would be used to support the implementation of development projects in the town.
Addressing participants to round off the exercise, the Guantoahene expressed the need for Ghanaians to cultivate self help spirit to enhance the development of their towns, villages and other communities.
He said besides keeping the country clean all the time, regular cleaning up exercises plays important role in bringing our environments under proper and conducive hygienic condition, for the maintenance of excellent and reliable health status.
Nana Kofi advised Ghanaians to accept and embrace the National Sanitation Day (NSD) programme firmly and play their individual and collective roles effectively on the first Saturday of every month to ensure total attainment of the objectives of the exercise.
The Guantoahene appealed to the various religious organisations and all organised bodies in the country to devote part of their time to educate their followers on the NSD.
