Be mindful of a recruitment scam – Local Government Service warns
The Local Government Service (LGS) on Tuesday warned the general public to be mindful of a recruitment scam.
The LGS is not recruiting new staff for the secretariat contrary to an article being circulated on the social media.
A statement signed Mr Joseph A. Ankamah, LGS Public Affairs Officer, and copied to the Ghana News Agency denied any recruitment purportedly being made by the LGS and called on the public to disregard such information which is ostensibly seeking to dupe job seekers.
“It must be noted that, much as the Local Government Service Secretariat (LGSS) recruits staff with clearance from the Ministry of Finance when there are gaps, the LGSS is only responsible for the recruitment of staff for the secretariat, the regional co-coordinating councils, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and their sub-structures and not central Government ministries, department and agencies,” it said.
The statement said all public service institutions including the Local Government Service have laid down processes and procedures that must be adhered to in the event of recruitment.
“The service wishes to assure the general public that, when such opportunities turn up the public will be duly informed,” it said.
The article which was strewn on social media claimed that, the ‘Local Government Service Secretariat was in the process of recruiting civil servants for district assemblies and other ministries, departments and agencies.
It said the purported advertisement claimed that forms were to be purchased at Ghana Publishing Company (Assembly Press) and to be submitted with other attachments to the secretariat for recruitment.
