Ghanaians urged to support police with information

Ghanaians have been called upon to assist the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies with timely, valuable, quality and accurate information to help clamp down on criminals and wrong doers in the society.

The Keta Municipal Director of National Commission on Civic Education, Mr Godwin Agbenyo, made the call on the Commission’s weekly programme dubbed: “Time with NCCE,” when he was giving public education on the Public Order Act, 491of 1994.

He said as the country was preparing for the December 7, general election the security of the people must be taken seriously and therefore those in charge of organising special events must follow the due requirements provided under the Public Order Act and bear in mind their responsibilities.

He advised the political parties to abide by the political parties’ code of conduct and called on their followers not to take the law into their hands in order to sustain the peace.

Mr Agbenyo said the Commission had been vigorously educating the public on the do’s and the don’ts of the election and the need for peace with support from the European Union.

Mr Simon Mawuko, Civic Education Officer called on the youth to use their strength to build Ghana instead of being induced or enticed with a promise or a token to destroy it.

He appealed to the youth to be guided by their conscience and to avoid the use of harsh words and actions that would threaten the peace of the country.

Mr Mawuko called on all Ghanaians to live up to their civic responsibilities and be law-abiding citizens before, during and after the presidential and parliamentary elections.
