President Mahama swears-in Auditor General

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday swore in a new Auditor General in Accordance with Article 17(b) of the 1992 Constitution, with the call on him to ensure probity and accountability in all the sectors of the economy.

   
The new Auditor General, Mr Daniel Yao Domelevo, former staff of the Controller and Accountant Department would take over from Mr Richard Quartey, whose tenure of office ended on December 22.
     
“In our fight against corruption in the public sector, you should be able to ensure that there is adequate prevention and education, but when it occurs, you should also place sanctions to ensure sanity.”
     
President Mahama urged the Auditor General to carry out his professional mandate by monitoring the use of public finances and by collaborating with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the judicious use of the government purse.
   
He gave the assurance that government would cooperate with him in all his endeavours to professionally discharge his duties.
   
Mr Domelevo thanked President Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve the country.    
 
He gave the assurance that he would work hard to justify his appointment and subsequent swearing-in.
