Kotoko’s new coach to let some players go

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s newly appointed Head Coach, Zdravko Lugarusic, has announced plans to let go all players technically and physically not fit to belong to the club.

He said they would see off those deemed surplus to the requirement of arguably Ghana’s most glamourous and successful football club.

The Croatian said the technical team would be working with fewer quality players who passed the test of the strict training regimen he was going to introduce.

He dropped the hint after he had been officially introduced to the playing body at the club’s training grounds in Adako-Jachie in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

The GNA Sports has gathered that Kotoko, currently has more than 40 players on its pay role.

Coach Lugarusic has signed a two-year contract to strengthen the technical department of the club and he comes with a depth of experience.

He has had stints with two Ghanaian clubs – King Faisal and Ashgold, as well others in the United States (US), Australia, Croatia and Kenya.

He has been tasked to guide the Porcupine Warriors to win the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Coach Lugarusic urged the players to be disciplined and demonstrate professionalism, telling them that any unruly conduct would not be entertained.

Assistant Coach Michael Osei assured the new coach of their total support, saying they were ready to work with him to win more trophies for the club.
